THE 1998 FORT TRYON PARK MEDIEVAL FESTIVAL
As Chronicled by Blackwolf the Dragonmaster
        AKA Richard Washington

There are so many mortals to thank for having made this year's festival a joyous success. For example: Costume Master Bob Coleman, and his assistant Jimmy Ishman; the Newcastle Infantrie, William Franz, Captain, and Joseph Heller, Ensign; the Maryland Historical Combat Group; the members of Vikland; Wing Educational Lectures and Sharon O'Connor, who handled our falcons; Richard Van Nort, Coordinator in charge of arms and armor; Steve Dunnington and his crew, who puts together such a wonderful joust for us each year; our major donors-- the Lattimer Family, the Office of the President of the Borough of Manhattan, the Neighborhood Fund of Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Allstate Insurance companies, the New York Times Company Foundation, the Friends of Fort Tryon Park-- and the hundreds upon hundreds of volunteers without whom our noble kingdom would not be the shining moment it is every single year!

If you would like to find out more about what we did at this year's Fort Tryon Park Medieval Festival, or if you wish to volunteer your services for next year's day in the kingdom, please contact the Washington Heights/Inwood Development Corp., 57 Wadsworth Avenue, New York, NY 10033.

As for me, I must finish combing my beard! The High Istari will soon summon me, and it'll be time for the First Anniversary Party for a humble little mage named Blackwolf. Huzzah! For me-- one year down, 9,999 more to go! Ah, me... How did they ever end up choosing me as Dragonmaster???!? Oh, but I shouldn't complain. Frankly, in only my first year as defender of the great power crystal of the multiverse, I've had so many fascinating adventures, and made so many wonderful friends. It does my heart good knowing that you, O noble mortals, are number'd amongst those friends.

And in that knowledge, I thank you.

Thanks, too, to Master Ryleh, who has himself become a dear and glorious friend, lo these three delightful years. I look forward to your attainment of immortality, old boy-- and on that day, you shall be most honored and happily welcomed! Until then, I trust you'll drink me a toast or two this All Hallow's Eve as I celebrate here; and my own best wishes to you!

        Fearlessly Yours
