The above map of the Hollygrove site was scanned from the Festival pamphlet provided to each patron entering the grounds. Entrance to the village is through the enclosure shown in the lower left on the map. Hollygrove is very well laid-out: upon entering the Faire, I turned left and simply followed the inside perimeter until I returned to the main gate, then toured the three inside "islands" of shops--all in less than four hours. That was without haste, mind you, inspecting all the numerous and varied wares each vendor had to offer...and still had time to take in the Tournament, enjoy a leisurely repast while listening to bagpipers play, watch the Maypole dancers and take pictures of the many unusual and colorful costumes worn by patrons and participants alike!
According to THE SCRIBE, the Michigan Renaissance Festival has 12 stages, 150 vendors booths and hosts more than 230,000 patrons during its seven-week run. In 1999, MRF will open on August 14th and close September 24th (weekends only). Closing time is 7pm. To reach the Faire from the Michigan-Ohio border near Toledo (Ohio), take I-75 north through Detroit to the Dixie Hiway Cutoff. Head south on Dixie Hiway, looking for the festival entrance on the right.
