According to THE SCRIBE, the Norman Medieval Faire has two stages, 200 vendors booths and hosts more than 100,000 patrons during its single-weekend run. In 2000, NRF will open on Friday, April 7th and close Sunday, April 9th. Friday is designated "Education Day" for local schoolchildren, but the general publick may also attend. Admission is FREE all weekend. Faire times are 10am to 7pm on Friday and Saturday, 10am to 6pm on Sunday.
While the city of Norman is an attractive college town, the street system--especially East Lindsey!--was just not designed for several tens of thousands of visitors descending on the place at the same time. Expect to make haste, slowly. Parking is also at a premium around the site. You will have to pay for a space near the Faire, even on the street; or plan to walk in from the outlying parking lots; or take a slow ride on the shuttle bus from the even-more-distant Faire parking.
The Faire is located at the University of Oklahoma's Brandt Park Duck Pond, on East Lindsey Street in Norman, Oklahoma, just 17 miles south of Oklahoma City on I-35. Motel/hotel accommodations are available both in Norman and Oklahoma City, but these fill up fast with vendors, Rennies and Faire patrons that weekend. Consider making advance room reservations early to avoid a late evening search for lodging!
