Herein thou shalt find honored those of Ryleh's traveling companions who have contributed directly to the creation of these pages. Whether it be with additional photos, knowledge, assistance, friendship and more, each has greatly enhanced my RenFaire experiences in their own personal way. Since their contributions are both individual and unique, I hereby present them to you in alphabetical order--neither holding one greater than the others but acknowledging my debt of gratitude to them all. Would that we could all meet together at Faire one day!
Sir Clisto Seversword strikes a gallant pose during a lull in the action at the Bristol Renaissance Festival. Sir Clisto (AKA John Brunette) was a marvelous host, offering many helpful suggestions so Ryleh could get the most out his brief weekend at Bristol. His knowledge and assistance at Faire was greatly appreciated! In addition he is also the author of Sir Clisto's "Tome of Knowledge", one of the most outstanding RenFaire/Medieval resource sites on the Web which--by odd happenstance--you can access through my own Linkes page. Furthermore, in recognition of his many fine talents, John was recently named to the exalted position of Staff Writer for Renaissance Magazine, wherein he will now review both RenFaires and Faire-related Websites. Ryleh offers his heartiest Congratulations and "God Speed!" to all of Sir Clisto's future endeavors!
John Dunn waves to the camera during a visit to Deadman's Cave in Arkansas. A good friend adventurous at heart, he has always been ready, willing and able to join Ryleh in many of his wanderings--whether it be to caves, Renaissance Faires or other strange, unique and/or unusual places and events. You will find many of his best photos on the TRF pages herein.
Taking stock, Sean Eddings checks out the Pillory near the Tournament Field at the Texas Renaissance Festival. As a traveling companion, his wry observations and wicked sense of humor made TRF even more enjoyable. He also contributed a number of excellent photos to the TRF pages on this site. (photo by John Dunn, as Sean was obviously "indisposed" at the moment!).
Pam and Mike Harris of Houston, taken before the Texas Renaissance Festival. Of this photo, Mike says: "My wife and ME! Er...I'm the one on the right with the beard. And no, I'm not Chinese. I was facing the morning sun in my front yard (ok and a little hung over...)". Not only did Mike contribute a number of great photos to the TRF pages, but he and his wife met Ryleh at Scarborough Faire, where they acted as most-knowledgable and gracious guides to the best Scarborough had to offer. And that despite the fact that Pam had broken her foot in an accident only a few days before! Again, this past Fall, Mike and Pam graciously hosted me at the 1997 Texas Renaissance Festival. Their help in making purchases, completing my own costume and enjoying the best shows TRF has to offer was most invaluable. Ryleh is definitely looking forward to seeing them both again this Summer and meeting their friends, companions and acquaintances at Hawkwood!
Master Hui of Dallas has been a regular--and most welcome!--visitor to these pages. His help in both finding and correcting spelling errors and broken links herein has been invaluable. Master Hui has also freely offered his own cogent observations of the Faire scene: his informative quotes appear extensively where appropriate in several RenFaire pages within this Site. Most recently, he entered the 1997 Texas RenFaire photo contest, where he received an "Honorable Mention" in recognition of his talent. Congratulations are definitely in order for a job well done!
The Lady Regina Rorher, of Houston (above right with boyfriend, Chris Domingo), is an enthusiastic, knowledgable and long-time patron of the Texas Renaissance Festival: she has been attending TRF since the age of 15! She not only identified a goodly number of the players in my photographs of TRF '96, provided additional commentary on those pictures and corrected a case of mistaken identity, but she also suggested several excellent links to TRF vendors and other TRF-related Websites. More importantly, she authored the outstanding "Tribute To Dobber" story--which you can read in my TRF '97 report. Ryleh is really looking forward to seeing her RenFaire pages on the Web, soon!
Squire Richard Washington (aka Blackwolf the DragonMaster (left, above) with his friend, Merdwin the Mediocre) has frequently contributed his time, artistic talent and creative imagination toward enhancing these pages. He recently chose this Site to review as "Blackwolf's Site of the Issue" in "The Ink Blot", the newsletter of The Fellowship of The Black Spot; he handcrafted the new illuminated logo exclusively for "Ryleh's Renaissance World" and he also contributed the in-depth reports on the 1997 "Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park" in New York City, and the 1995-96 Clan MacDuff Scottish Highland Games which you may access through Ryleh's Main RenFaire page. His illuminated letters with hand-drawn graphicks are a joy both to read and behold! And yes, Squire Washington is available for custom, freelance artwork. You may reach him by writing "Richard Washington, Suite #14-E, 15948 Harlem River Drive, New York City, NY 10039-1012" or calling (212) 368-6670 to make an appointment. Such talent should only be encouraged!
Lloyd the Wizard and his friend, Jim, before the Texas Renaissance Festival. Of his costume, Lloyd says "Yolanda made it completely from scratch, searching out the material and acoutrements. My staff was a limb from our yard, already on the ground, so nothing died to supply it, debarked and finished with oil and leather then a bottle mounted on the top, Yolanda then fitted a skin from an Artic Fox head to the bottle, and filled the nose and shaped the ears, also made the eyes from glitter, to give it life. Bless the whole thing with fairy dust and away we went into history. By the way the staff is named Claude." (photo by Yolanda Leach, submitted by Lloyd).
