The KC Renaissance Festival has its' share of wonderful entertainment. One of the first groups that caught my attention was the good-natured sounds of the Dregs of Dublin (Photo, above). The members are (left to right): Rowan Corbet, Kenny Hyland and Tony Baker. It was brought to my attention that Rowan has a rare aptitude for the "bones", as pictured. He is playing a pair of them in each hand and at separate rhythms which is quite a feat. I had presumed this was common!
Other groups with that nice familair Celtic bent were Wild Mountain Thyme (Photo, above), Brollywacker (Photo, left) and McGuire Brothers/Tullamore (Photo, below).
Perhaps the most entertaining troupe on site were the Jolly Rogers (Photo, left). Of course I do have a preference for singing pirates. They are the best and most well-honed comedy ensemble I have ever seen. All six members displayed incredible energy, timing and enthusiasm...
But with the stuff they do for the audience (Photo right and below), they'd need it!
