        Welcome to
        WITHROW RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL 2000

Step back hundreds of years in Time and discover winding country lanes brimming with the lively energy of revelers and merchants; the colorful banter of rollicking peasants; courtly processions of elegantly arrayed nobles; fanciful jesters; savory aromas wafting through the air... And, from somewhere not so far away, the melodious sounds of the minstrel.

The Withrow Renaissance Festival recreates a medieval Scottish country faire and marketplace. Multitudes of costumed players, minstrels, dancers, swordsmen, artists, storytellers and specialty acts join together in a marketplace teeming with crafts, games, cooks and beverage purveyors to entertain and delight all who enter this land of enchantment. Thrill to jousting tournaments, enjoy spectacular royal processions and competitions. From street and stage, our players present lively reenactments of Scottish life from peasant and servant, gypsies and merrymakers, to noble, soldier and fool. Mayhap even a delegation from the Land of Faerie may come to call on the King!

Tantilizing food is the order of the day. All patrons of the Withrow Renaissance Festival have the delightful opportunity to feast upon a veritable cornucopia of delicious foods. Many food and English treats are offered, including roasted turkey legs and steaming corn on the cob to name but a few of the mouth-watering offerings. In addition, all may slake their thirst by imbibing from a variety of beverages.

Arts and Crafts! As you explore our medieval village, you will meet friendly artisans chosen for the quality of their wares, the pride they take in their work, and the joy they get from sharing their knowledge, skills, and products with you. You can see hand-blown and -drawn glass, pottery, leather and feather works, basket weaving, jewelry, blacksmithing, glass etching and more. The possibilities are endless!

Revel in the History! The Withrow Renaissance Festival also includes a large number of games and rides from the medieval era, including contests of luck and skill. Try your luck at crossbow shooting, ax or knife throwing, tomato games and scaling the castle walls. You can even see an actual joust, watch battle reenactments and view individual weapon contests and feats-of-arms.

A special Children's Tent has been set up for our younger visitors. Children can explore the Petting Zoo with baby animals, watch puppet shows, and enjoy storytelling or a sing-along. There's even a sponsored Rest Area for their parents!
